Family, friends, and neighbors gather to find out where Elder Joseph Chou will be called to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).
The house is packed and we sing the hymn: "Called to Serve." A world map has been filled with dozens of guessing on where he might be called to serve. Every continent has been included, most guessing Hong Kong where his mother served as a missionary, or California where his father served, or Taiwan where they spent several years.
There is much anticipation as the "mission call" letter arrived on March 28, but Elder Chou opted to wait patiently until today.
Elder Joseph Chou, you are hereby called to serve in the... CHINA HONG KONG MISSION ... you will learn Cantonese... report to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC) on June 29, 2016.Cheers and applause could be heard. Mom was overjoyed as her son would serve a mission back in Hong Kong.
Our oldest son is about to follow in the footsteps of his parents and spent 24 months serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
